Find out how exciting laser scanning technology called Lidar (Light Detection And Ranging) is helping us to care for the New Forest's historic environment.
You will be able to:
- hear and read about how Lidar technology works;
- find out about the different types of archaeological features and sites that can be found in the New Forest using Lidar scanning;
- using pictures and descriptions of different sites, see if you can spot them yourself by exploring our Lidar maps and 3D models;
- chat to the archaeologists about the different ways they have been using Lidar mapping in their survey work, and how you could start using Lidar yourself to explore the New Forest's historic environment.
